Get out of the phone (Cody and Colin 2 years 8 months)
Last night we were on FaceTime with Daddy and Cody said "can you get out of the phone, Daddy?"
They also asked him to come home from Mexico when he told them he wasn't in the phone, he was in San Francisco!
Be more careful Mommy... (Cody 2 years, 8 months))
I had a small cut on my thumb from dry skin. Cody asked to see my owwie, I showed it and he gently put his hand on my cheek and with very concerned eyes said, "mommy, you need to be more careful!"

Things they say...
Justin commonly asks people if they are "in or out"... now when Cody is asked if he wants something he is known to say "I IN!!!" Such a cutie.
When asked by Nonnie the other day what the boys wanted to be when they grow up, they both answered "doctor!"... no idea where they go that! Caillou?

Smarty Potty Treat
Every night I put the boys on the big potty and every night with out fail they GO! I give them a smarty... just one. (funny from last night. They both went potty and I gave them a little smarty and Colin pops his right in his mouth. We brushed teeth (this is all before bath) and then got in our pj's and sat on the couch and watched a few mins of cartoons before we said nite nite to Elmo, etc. Well I notice that Cody STILL had his smarty in his hand. Oh boy. I called attention to it and he went over, got a little stacking cup, put the smarty in it and started to twirl the smarty in teh cup so it made a sound. At this point, Colin realizes that Cody still has his smarty and contemplates throwing a fit bc he assumes I gave Cody another one, which was not true. I siad this to colin, but you know how far that goes with a 2 year old. I tell Cody, just EAT your smarty, son. He then lays back on the couch with his head on the pillow and continues to twirl his smarty in the cup. At this point I am showing Elmo. Colin lasts about 3 mins before he just cannot take it anymore, grabs the cup out of Cody's hand, grabs the smarty and puts it in his mouth as fast as he can and starts furiously chewing. Cody's eyes are wide and it took him about 5 long seconds to realize what happened. It was hilarious, but I couldn't laugh... and of course I had to replace Cody's smarty AND this time he ate it quickly.

Climbing out of the crib
We've been dealing with both boys climbing out of the crib lately. After about a week of not enough sleep for mom and dad, we finally put up a crib tent on Colin's crib. He was super pissed for the first few mins and then kinda "gave up" laid down, and went to sleep. He got up and cried a couple of times that night and the next night... nothing... he slept all of the way through.
We bought another tent for Cody's crib on 3/1/12 and he behaved similarly to Colin on his first night. I would suspect and hope that his second night is much better.
You have no idea how important sleep is until you aren't getting any. I truly feel for those people who have medically diagnosed sleep issues... how tragic.
We're back in the sleep game now... that is, until they figure out of to get out of the tents. I hope and pray that its months and not weeks... ugg, or days. :-)
We are happy and healthy otherwise. Mama is on a diet and feeling good. Got a fancy new iphone that I love. Life is good!

Colin's broken leg
The last time Colin and Cody were separated was when Cody was in the hospital. At 6 pm on Jan 2, 2012 Colin made his first ER visit and the boys were again separated for only the second time ever.
Around 9:30 am on Jan 2, 2012 Colin stood up on the chaise part of our leather sectional couch. Although I only saw the the crash out of the corner of my eye, it looked as though he never actually got his balance and as soon as he was vertical, he fell back between the couch and the coffee table. As far as toddler crashes go, it seemed minor and did NOT seem like a fall that could result in a significant injury. Colin cried, I picked him up and although pretty clingy, he was fine after about 10 mins. Only thing out of the ordinary was that he could not bear weight on his right leg.
My initial diagnosis was a tad more grim that Justin's. I took Colin's pants off, examined his legs and saw no protruding bones or swelling... not even a bruise. He was very tender to the touch near his right shin area and would also wince when rotating his right foot. I thought that there was a good possibility that he right shin (tibia) was broken. Justin was not convinced and thought there was a possibility that he was just sore from a bad fall. He was happy! He still could not bear weight, but crawled and played as usual... only a tad clingy. We discussed a plan and decided to give it several hours and a nap or two and see if he was feeling better.
When Colin woke from his afternoon nap at 5 pm I carried him right from his crib to his highchair (like usual), he ate and then we set him down to walk. We heard a pop and the poor guy fell to the ground crying. Uggg, seeing your kid in pain is one of the more horrible things in life. Both Justin and I started to kick our plans into high gear. He emailed Norman, our pediatrician and cousin and got a phone call right back. Norm's advice was to take him to the ER now for an Xray. I grabbed the immunization card, the insurance card, Justin's diaper bag, a few snacks and dad and Colin were on their way to the hospital.
They arrived at Banner Gateway ER at 6:10 pm and were seen at 6:45 pm. Colin oooooo'ed and awwwwwww'ed at the xray machine and was super cooperative to the nice (and pretty as Justin said) nurses. They waited for a doc and she confirmed that his right tibia (shin bone) was in fact broken. A decent break (fracture) too. Colin had to lay on his stomach while a nurse put on his split and he and daddy played "hide the peanut" and laughed and laughed...Colin loves his trail mix.
Daddy and Colin were home by 9:45 and when they drove up, I rushed out to the garage to see him. I opened the door to get Colin out of his carseat and he just held up his leg and smiled... so proud of his new splint!
Colin has a 10:30 am appointment with an Orthopedic doctor today.

Kisses can mean I'm sorry: Colin.
I was changing the sheets on the boys bed last night and laid both mattresses on the floor so the boys could play on them. They had the BEST time... so much fun that before long they wheeled both of their lego trucks on the bed and Colin started throwing the legos off. I told him that was a no-no and if he did it again, he would have time out. He looked at me, raised his hands up real high, smiled and chucked those two legos across the room. I had been lying the floor up against the mattress and immediately said "ok, let's go to......" (and started to stand up) when he lunged over and pressed his lips on mine. I did not kiss back b/c he was "in trouble" so he drew his face away and looked at me funny like he was thinking "what the heck? Why didn't she make the kiss sound?" He quickly tried again and this time he just put his lips on mine and stayed there, neither of us "finishing the kiss"... finally I started cracking up and finished the kiss. I was hysterically laughing and then Colin started laughing and the little stinker weaseled his way out of timeout!
